Club Accord has been going for
25 years, and was founded by Malcolm Gee as
the Midlands (UK) Accordion Club. Other founder members included
Joy Kibble, Ray Jobbins and Lawrence Corbett. The club was initially
based in the Rubery / Kidderminster area but moved to the Bromsgrove
area some 10 or more years ago.
Average attendances are now around 35 on a Club Night, to
60 on a Guest Night.
The Club has a real true friendly atmosphere, both accordionists
and non-accordionists are always welcome to come along. It doesn't matter
if you are a member or not, we have an open door policy to any interested
person. Ages range from 10 - 97 !! , and musical styles vary from
folk to jazz, continental to classical, and singalong to modern popular
music. Our musicians play traditional acoustic accordions, melodeons, chromatics,
and electronic, midi accordions, plus even the odd harmonica!
The club mixes its evenings from Guest
Nights, where a professional or semi-pro accordionist is brought
in to entertain the crowd, with Club Nights, where its the club
members turn to entertain each other. (Don't worry we will never force
anyone to play if they don't want to).
We always try and have a "Mass Busk" session each night,
whether its a Guest night or Club Night, here everyone can join in and
play music together. Its great fun playing with other musicians, and we
will try and provide some written music for non-buskers.
We have a monthly newsletter to keep you informed of whats
going on and reduced entrance prices for members.
So come along and experience a real fun
evening with good music, and good company. (Its a ground floor
room, with plenty of Car Parking space and Drinks are cheap too!).
