Club Accord September 2002 Newsletter We began with Nancy playing "Jesus Christ Super Star" and "Memory" and "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera. Next was Neil who played a selection of Hornpipes, and "The Shetland Fiddlers Backstep", and ended with the Polka "Thingamajig". Stephan, our friend from Stratford, played "Feed the Birds", from Mary Poppins, "Fiddler on the Roof" and "If I were a Rich Man". Then our guests took the stage and began with a real jazzy number "Sunnyside of the Street", followed by "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head", "Happy Music", "Leanora" and the ever popular "Sweet Georgia Brown". Tony told us one or two jokes in between their playing along with a few stories from their own musical history. They ended the first half with a wonderful "Jungle Fantasy". Tracey began the second half with two very nice continental tunes, and was followed by Gary on accordion, accompanied by Trevor on Banjo/Ukele. They played "Bill Bailey", "Baby Face", and a selection of George Formby songs. Last to play was Andy with a couple of folk tunes. Our guest returned and began with "I've Got Rhythm", and then we were treated to a solo by Steve of "Caravan" which was superb. Tony joined in again to play "Stranger on the Shore", followed by a selection of Glen Millers including "Moonlight Serenade" and "At Last". Another two favourites "Cute" and "Summertime" brought us up to the last great number "Where and When". There were shouts of "Come Again Soon" and everyone was still standing around chatting at 11.30pm (no one wanted to go home). The attendance award was not claimed so it will be £4 next month.
