Club Accord March 2002 Newsletter Nancy began the entertainment with a very nice "Moonlight Serenade", followed by "I've Got Rhythm", and "Misty" and finished with "Any Umbrellas". Neil was our next member and he played a selection of Scottish tunes. First was the "Bonnie Lass of Bon Accord", then "Eine Kleine Braw Brecht Moonlecht Nacht Mosie", followed by "Highland Cathedral", "Flower of Scotland", a set of hornpipes and to end a "Welsh Misceilant". Erica played and sang "Lily Marlane", and then played a fast Chinese folk song. Jack, a guest to club played "Stardust" by Hogey Carmichel and "Blue Moon". Our youngest member Charles played a great selection of songs, first was "Red River Valley", then "Daisy Daisy" and "Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen". He finished with the popular "Whistling Rufus". This brought us up to the interval when we held the raffle and the attendance members award, which was not claimed this month. Terry began the second half accompanied by Graham on the drums. They started with a Tango, then Monti's "Czardas", next came the 5th and 6th Hungarian dances by Brahms. Terry return to the Tango theme for another two pieces, followed by "La Cumparsita", and "Jealousy". More Latin American tunes followed, "Marie Elena", "Besame Mucho", and "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps". Terry asked for requests and played "Hava Nagila", "Wien Bleibt Wien" and finished with "Arriverderci Roma". Andy ended the members solos with four nice folk tunes. We then held our mass busk with Nancy leading, joined by Neil, Fraiser, Graham and Paul (on Harmonica). 11.30 came and no one wanted to go home, it was a good night. We would like to apologise for the mistakes on the club membership cards
and will make sure that they are sorted out.
